Wage gap at Microsoft inches closed - DINT 129
Since 2022, Microsoft has published unadjusted median income by race and gender. Here are the 2024 stats.
As promised, here’s the breakdown of Microsotft’s 2024 Diversity & Inclusion Report.
Between 2022 and 2024 Microsoft’s Black employees closed the wage gap by 4%
2022 was the first year Microsoft published unadjusted median income to identify wage gaps by race and gender. That year, Black employees at Microsoft made $0.77 for every dollar white employees made. In 2023 that number went up to $0.78. And this year, it hit $0.80.
That sounds like big strides, until you see where other underrepresented groups are starting from. Hispanic and Latina/o/x employees at Microsoft made $0.82 per dollar in 2022. This year? It’s $0.85. That’s a 3.6% increase.
Yet again this year, Amazon, Apple, Alphabet didn’t publish these unadjusted numbers.
