As we know Kamala Harris is ascending to new heights as she sits on the cusp of entering the White House not as vice president but as president of the United States of America.
It’s fun and interesting to watch.
Yet the journalist in me always wants to know what’s the angle and what comes next. There is a time for optimism, sure. There’s also a time to peek around the corner and ask, “What could happen here?”
That’s what we’re doing in this issue of DINT. We’re asking questions about Kamala Harris and her connection with Silicon Valley venture capitalists and how that will affect Black women in tech, if at all.
We also touch on some serious news stories emerging out of fintech (the financial technology industry) and facial recognition in law enforcement.
Thankfully, one county in New York state is taken cues from Detroit by not following in their footsteps of mismanagement of facial recognition and license plate reading systems.
We also cover how a bank’s discriminatory practices hurt the wealth prospects of Black homeowners.
If AI does anything, it exposes data, trends, and analysis. That’s one good thing we can draw from tech right now.
It’s watching.
